MY JOURNEY
My journey to life coaching allowed me to learn how to accept anxiety and use it as a superpower instead of a hindrance. My journey included career changes; a shift in my time commitments in order to spend more time with my dogs and to do the animal welfare volunteer work that I love; a better understanding of myself that benefited communication with my partner, family, and friends; an acceptance of myself and how my path can differ from my peers; and an education in cognitive behavioral therapy that has allowed me to effectively help others make changes in their lives. I am a curious person who loves adventure and learning. I decided to launch a career as a life coach because I think it is a powerful format for empowering women with anxiety. Anxiety can be debilitating, but it can also be motivating. I love helping people navigate the negative aspects of anxiety, so they can lead the lives they want.
MY BACKGROUND
Prior to becoming a psychotherapist and an anxiety coach, I worked for the federal government, in marketing, and as a development director. Through these job experiences, I learned that I want to work with people directly in a meaningful way. I started my own psychotherapy practice to help people find happiness in their work, relationships, and life. As a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor with a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology, I have experience working with adults of all ages in individual and group therapy settings, including a college campus and an intensive outpatient hospital setting. In addition, I worked approximately 5 years in a group practice working with couples, families, and individuals before launching my private practice in 2022. My clinical interests focus on identity development and self-esteem, relationship issues and interpersonal conflict, anxiety, life transitions, and mood management. I enjoy helping clients to create positive changes, gain a deeper understanding of themselves, discover solutions, and rewrite their life stories in an empowering narrative. As a psychotherapist in Illinois, Kansas, and Indiana, and a global anxiety coach, I utilize mindfulness and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques to empower the client with positive coping skills and increased self-awareness. An animal lover, I have a deep appreciation of the human and animal connection and love working with fellow animal lovers. I have encountered the healing power of this connection both personally and professionally through canine therapy and through an internship I completed in equine facilitated psychotherapy.
